Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Eligibility Coordinator to assist patients with Medi-Cal applications and eligibility processes at a mental health facility. This is a critical role that involves working closely with patients to ensure they receive the support and benefits they need. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience navigating BenefitsCal.com, a deep understanding of county-level processes for Medi-Cal applications, and a strong ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist patients with completing and submitting Medi-Cal applications.
- Navigate BenefitsCal.com and other relevant platforms to process applications efficiently.
- Understand and utilize county-specific procedures and functions to ensure accuracy and compliance during the application process.
- Greet patients upon arrival and conduct intake processes, ensuring all necessary information is collected and documented.
- Meet with patients in a consult room to walk through application steps and provide individualized assistance.
- Serve as a liaison between patients and the county, advocating for patient needs and addressing any barriers or issues during the application process.
- Maintain a safe, professional, and welcoming environment in a busy mental health facility.
- Provide excellent service to patients while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism, even in high-pressure or emotionally sensitive situations.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Previous experience with BenefitsCal.com and Medi-Cal application processes is required.
- Direct knowledge of county systems and procedures for Medi-Cal applications is strongly preferred.
- Social work or county worker experience is highly desirable.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work compassionately with a diverse patient population.
- Thick-skinned and resilient, with the ability to handle potentially challenging or sensitive situations in a calm and professional manner.
- Experience in mental health settings is a plus.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Work Environment:
- You will work directly in a mental health facility, engaging closely with patients in a dedicated consult room.
- Although this role involves sensitive human interactions, the environment is safe and supported by trained professionals to ensure both employee and patient well-being.
